Arduino is a little but powerful multipurpose board that can be used for the realization of prototypes or to link users to electronic devices creating unlimited combinations.

The board it's opensource and can both hardware and software can be modified to be used for a lot of operations.
For example using this little board you have the possibility to create musical installation, interactive installation for museums, mp3 players and interactive artworks.
Arduino was created in Ivrea (near Torino) at the Interaction Design school by Massimo Banzi and his team and students use it to learn how to interact with objects and tools.
Arduino is also used by the design schools from all over the world. One of them, the MIT Media Lab, has created a course to use as well as possible the potential of this hardware.
Arduino can be bought rolled into one or in pieces that are produced by little italian companies.
The writing "made in italy" that is on the back of the board, gives an added value in terms of quality and can be used to attract the foreign markets.
In fact, Massimo Banzi, believe in competence, cure and attention of the italian's producers.
To conclude, today, Arduino is supplied by all over the world and particularly in America by the electronic chain products Radioshack, present locally with 4000 stores.

Arduino è una piccola ma potente scheda multiuso che può essere utilizzata sia per la realizzazione di prototipi sia per collegare l'utente ad altri apparecchi elettronici, creando infinite combinazioni.
La sua caratteristica principale è infatti quella di essere open source ovvero clonabile e modificabile a piacimento da chi lo usa, sia nelle caratteristiche fisiche (hardware) sia in quelle digitali (software) ed è quindi adattabile a una serie illimitata di operazioni.
L'utilizzo di questa scheda ad esempio ha permesso a professionisti di creare installazioni musicali o interattive per musei, lettori mp3 e opere d'arte.
Arduino nasce a Ivrea nella scuola di Interaction Design a cura di Massimo Banzi e del suo team e viene utilizzato dagli studenti per imparare a interagire con gli oggetti.
Successivamente viene usato nelle scuole di design di tutto il mondo incluso l'MIT Media Lab dove è stato creato un corso video apposito per sfruttare al meglio le potenzialità di questo strumento.
Arduino può essere acquistato già assemblato o in pezzi (prodotti da piccole aziende italiane).
Nel retro della scheda è presente il marchio "Made in italy" che oltre ad essere sinonimo di qualità è anche attrattivo per i mercati esteri. Massimo Banzi infatti crede molto nell'Italia e nelle competenze, nella cura e nell'attenzione che contraddistinguono i produttori italiani.
Oggi Arduino viene distribuito in tutto il mondo e in particolar modo in America attraverso la catena di prodotti elettronici Radioshack presente sul territorio statunitense con 4000 negozi.
